Mark Lowis, LMSW

Mark Lowis has been a leader in the state of Michigan for the integration of treatment for persons with co-occurring disorders in both the mental health and substance abuse network.  He was a member of the Michigan SAMSHA Policy Academy Delegation, the Michigan Policy Academy, and serves on the IDDT Committee and MIFAST Team.  He led the systems change effort in Oakland County and has hosted trainings for clinicians and psychiatrists across Southeastern Michigan bringing in noted speakers such as Dr. David Mee Lee, Dr. Kenneth Minkoff, Dr. Christi Cline, and others.  Mark has developed training for the Oakland County DHS, MRS, Work First, and Michigan Works agencies which are transforming the way in which welfare to work programs function and which led to the design of the Michigan Jobs Education and Training (JET) pilot program.

Mark is a consultant for Wayne State University and provides fidelity review, training, and technical assistance for development and implementation of Integrated Dual Disorder Treatment (IDDT).

Mark is a member of the international Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and has provided trainings to mental health and substance abuse agencies, probation and parole officers, and agencies serving people with developmental disabilities and others.  He is becoming the preferred trainer of Motivational Interviewing in several specialized areas.

Mark has extensive experience in utilization management, quality management, systems change, and program development.  He is currently a consultant to several agencies in Michigan where he is providing technical assistance for management, process, clinical, and compliance improvement strategies.
